Gauge: Refers to the thickness of jewelry wire.
Length: Length is important to ensure proper jewelry fitting.
Straight Barbell: Jewelry that balls attached on either end. One or both of the balls are attached via threading.
Applications: Tongue, nipples, industrial, etc.
Curved barbell: Barbell with slight curve, having balls attached on either end. One or both balls are attached via threading.
Applications: Navel, brow, clitoris hood, etc.
Captive bead ring (AKA: sleeper): Circular ring wich hold the bead "captive". The bead has a dimple on either side into which the ends of the circular ring fit. The pressure of the ring against the bead dimples is what holds the ring closed and in place.Opening pliers and closing pliers are used to install and remove the jewelry.
Application: Navel, lip, ear, nostril, nipple, scrotum, labia, clitoris hood, triangle, etc.
Circular barbell (AKA: horseshoe): A horseshoe shaped ring having a ball attached to either end. One or both of the balls are threaded on.
Application: Septum, lip, ear, nipples, triangle, brow, etc.
Nostril screw: Corkscrew shaped jewelry with a shape or design on one end(ball, gem...either prong or bezel set.) There is no locking or closing mechanism. The screw is fitted to the piercee's nostril to prevent obvious loss of jewelry. We do not use nostril "studs". Nostril studs are short stems having a ball on either end. The end of the stud has a small ball that is larger than the opening of the piercing, making installation and removal painful and damaging to tissue.
Labret Stud: A post having two to three components to it's design.
Two component design: a post having a fixed "disc" on one end and a threaded ball (or other shape) on the opposing end.
Three component design: Comprised of a threaded on ball, post and disc.
Application: Labret, cartilage.
Fishtail labret: A wire having a fixed decorative ball (or other shape) on one end. The wire is L-shaped having no "closure" pierce on the other end.
